My mom has been thinking about getting a second dog for a while now. She wanted our other dog, Tully, to have a playmate and she thought now was a good time to get one. Tully is a soft-coated wheaten terrier. She is much larger than Pixie :-).
Pixie is from the SPCA and she is a Chihuahua mix, roughly 1.5 years old. I know what you are thinking....Chihuahua!!!?!?!?!?! I thought that too. Pixie does not look much like a Chihuahua, and she is actually 9 lbs, small but not as small as a regular Chihuahua (I don't have anything against Chihuahuas but many tend to be yappy). I think she might be a Chihuahua/ Miniature Pinscher mix or perhaps mixed with a bit of rat terrier. My mom tells me she is a really sweet dog and loves to sit on your lap. Right now Tully is the dominant one in the house but we'll see what happens when Pixie gets used to her new home.
I can't wait to meet Pixie, but I'll probably have to wait until Christmas!
